The weekend victory of the opposition, Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), in by-elections held in the Highfield and Kwazana districts is still generating reactions.
While the government has not officially commented, opposition supporters are celebrating what they say is another indication of the influence of the party after the recent successful stay away two weeks ago which paralyzed large sections of the country.
Eliphas Mukonoshuro is professor of political science at the University of Zimbabwe. He told Studio Seven’s Chinedu Offor that MDC's victories in the weekend’s by elections is quite significant.
